Integrated energy systems in practice
During the Arnhem Electricity Week (AEW), the Urban Energy Systems (UES) community of Connectr comes together for a practice-oriented session at the demofield. AEW focuses on innovation in energy and electrification and offers an ideal setting to explore how integrated energy systems function in an urban context.
Within the UES community, companies, knowledge institutions, and governments collaborate on integrated energy solutions for urban areas — from existing neighbourhoods to new developments. The focus is on future-proof, feasible, and reliable systems that respond intelligently to grid congestion and the increasing demand for electricity and heat.
During this meeting, the emphasis is on practice: what already works, what challenges do we encounter, and what is needed to scale up further?
We start at the stage on the outdoor area of AEW and then move onto the site. During a tour of the event, we explore various practical examples and innovations that show how energy, mobility, and infrastructure come together within urban systems.
At different locations on the demofield, participants gain insight into concrete applications such as smart energy systems, local generation, storage, and the integration of energy solutions within the built environment.
We conclude the session with a joint wrap-up and networking lunch, where there is room for reflection and further exchange within the community.
Programme (morning)
