Matthijs van den Heuvel has joined Connectr as Program Manager for Heavy Duty Charging. He has already been involved with the community for some time and will continue building, together with its members, a strong and growing ecosystem around heavy-duty charging.
“What appeals to me in this community is the openness and the willingness to explore, puzzle things out, and tackle challenges together,” Matthijs says.
“In the electrification of the transport sector, charging infrastructure will play a crucial role in the coming years. In the nationwide rollout of heavy-duty charging hubs, issues such as availability, grid congestion, and interoperability are key challenges. At the same time, smart charging and better use of private charging infrastructure offer clear opportunities. By examining these topics from different perspectives, we as a community aim to take concrete steps.”
Activities and collaboration in 2026
In 2026, the Heavy Duty Charging (HDC) community will continue organizing innovation-focused events. These are intended both to deepen knowledge on specific themes and to explore potential collaborations or coalitions. In addition, networking events will be facilitated, with Connectr playing a connecting role.
Alongside content sessions and networking meetings, Connectr is preparing a major Heavy Duty Charging event in May 2026 during Arnhem Electricity Week. This event is aimed at 300 to 400 logistics companies from the Netherlands, with participation also open to international transport operators. The goal is to bring together stakeholders from across the entire value chain and position the Netherlands as a leader in heavy-duty charging.
