Connectr & BRYCK strengthen cross-border energy innovation during delegation visit to Essen

09 Feb 2026

On 28 January 2026, Connectr – Energy innovation brought together a broad delegation from the Arnhem–Nijmegen region in Essen for a working visit to BRYCK. The meeting marked a joint step toward Germany, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Dutch and German energy ecosystems.

The region as a cohesive ecosystem

The delegation consisted of representatives from the Province of Gelderland, the Municipality of Arnhem, Oost NL, The Economic Board, InnovationQuarter, HAN University of Applied Sciences and Radboud University. In this composition, it became clear how the region presents itself as a cohesive ecosystem: government, knowledge institutions and development partners working in close connection, with one shared ambition for the energy transition.

Why North Rhine–Westphalia is a logical partner

Cooperation with Germany is of strategic importance in this context. North Rhine–Westphalia is one of Europe’s largest industrial regions and plays a key role in the energy transition. For Dutch innovations, the region offers scale and market access, while the direct link with industry and investors provides opportunities for acceleration. BRYCK plays a central role here as both a partner and a gateway to the German ecosystem.

Exchange as a driver of collaboration

Exchange was central throughout the day. The delegation became acquainted with the BRYCK ecosystem and, in working sessions, engaged with each other and with German partners on shared challenges and possible next steps. Enthusiasm was high, and concrete ideas for collaboration quickly emerged. In this setting, the strength of regional cooperation became clear: different perspectives at the table, focused on joint follow-up steps across the border.

Building on a strategic partnership

The meeting builds on the strategic partnership that Connectr and BRYCK entered into in May 2025 during Arnhem Electricity Week. With Arnhem and Essen as logical links, both organizations are working toward a stronger, more connected energy ecosystem in Northwestern Europe.

“By moving forward together as a region, speed and trust are created. That makes the difference in cross-border cooperation. Connectr must act as the director in this: connecting parties, providing direction, and ensuring that cooperation actually leads to implementation.”
, Marijke Deegens, Province of Gelderland

With this day, an important step has been taken in deepening Dutch-German cooperation in the energy transition, with clear starting points for follow-up.
